Coffee Republic co-founder, entrepreneur Sahar Hashemi, delivered the
keynote speech at the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) European
education event EMEC 2012 in Budapest on Sunday (29 January).

The
entrepreneur who first introduced US-style coffee consumerism to the
British market shared her outlook on innovation in modern business.

Maria Thyien, MPI’s  Chapter Business Manager EMEA and key organiser of the education sessions in Budapest, told CN
that MPI had been guided in putting together the 2012 programme “by
what other industries were doing that could be applied to the
international meetings industry”.

MPI Manager of Strategic Communications Theresa Davis told CN an
important consideration for the MPI Board in planning this year’s EMEC
had been the idea of “turning innovation into practice”.

The
evening welcome reception at the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts, offered
the 343 MPI delegates the experience of ‘Molecular Mixology’ – the
so-called “practice of manipulating states of matter to create new
flavours, textures and visuals that enhance the drink and make the
experience stimulating”. MPI can clearly still do the esoteric as well
as practical.

European Meetings and Events Conference (EMEC) 2012 runs at the Novotel Congress Centre Hotel, Budapest, 29-31 January.
