International hotel group Rezidor and hospitality and travel company Carlson Hotels have joined forces to create The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

International hotel group Rezidor and hospitality and travel company Carlson Hotels have joined forces to create The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.
 
The partnership will make The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group one of the largest hotel chains worldwide with a portfolio of 1,300 hotels in 80 countries including brands Radisson Blu; Radisson; Country Inns and Suites By CarlsonSM; Park Inn by Radisson; Hotel Missoni; and Park Plaza.
 
Last week (10 January) CN reported the restructure of Rezidor’s regional operations offices in Europe, the Middle East and ica. The company had separated responsibilities for core brands Radisson Blu andPark Inn by Radisson on Area Vice President level.
 
While the legal status and ownership structure of Carlson and Rezidor remain the same, the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group will deliver better alignment and management across its brands globally while opening up new revenue and staff development opportunities.
 
A major initiative will be to pursue partnership projects with business travel and event management agencies such as Carlson Wagonlit Travel; and the rapid growth of Club Carlson, the group’s loyalty programme.
 
“Carlson and Rezidor have a long common history and have grown together over the past 17 years,” said President and CEO of Carlson, Hubert Joly (pictured right). “Going to market as one is a next and natural step.”
 
President and CEO of Rezidor, Kurt Ritter (pictured left) added: “The goal of this development is to generate more attractive financial returns for the owners and greater value for all shareholders, to be perceived by business partners around the world as one global hotel company, to offer more compelling and consistent value propositions to the guests, and to offer global career and development opportunities to the staff.”
 
Combined, the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group aims to generate more than US$400m (£259m) in additional revenue and a RevPAR Index increase of more than nine points by 2015. All commercial activities will be conducted under the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group name.
