Tourism office Visit Surrey has launched its first smartphone app (application) to coincide with its 2012 destination brochure.

The new brochure is the biggest ever, with 72 pages of places to visit, stay, and places to eat, together with events and information for coach operators.

For the first time the brochure has also been turned into a free app for iPhone, iPad and iPod, allowing visitors from overseas to plan their trips in advance. The app allows delegates handy access to places to go in the county.

App developer Resort Marketing began developing destination marketing apps for the iPhone in 2010, and created the ‘Official UK Visitor Guides’ app late in 2011.

The paper version of the brochure will be distributed nationwide through the network of tourist information centres, motorway service stations, railway stations, hotels and attractions and will have a prominent position in Gatwick Airport for the duration of the London 2012 Games.
