Lurene Joseph has been appointed as the new CEO of Marketing Leeds, the organisation responsible for promoting the city nationally and internationally and attracting inward investment.
She has been appointed after a second round of recruitment, after an initial process failed to come up with suitable applicants. She will take up the post on 30 April 2012, although she will begin to get involved with activities in the meantime, especially with regards to ensuring Leeds benefits from the Olympics.
Jean Dent will continue as Interim Chief Executive until April 2012.
Joseph joins Marketing Leeds from the London Development Agency (LDA), where she is Chief Executive.
At the LDA she is currently leading the delivery of a range of regeneration, skills and business projects.
Joseph will take charge of an expanded Marketing Leeds, bringing together a wide range of functions and services previously provided by Locate in Leeds, Visit Leeds, Conference Leeds and Marketing Leeds itself. She will lead the delivery of a proactive inward investment strategy for the city, taking forward programmes and initiatives that attract new investment and jobs.
Deborah Green recently resigned as CEO of Marketing Leeds following the agency shake up. The post is believed to carry a salary of around £100,000.
