World Travel Market (WTM) has reported a five per cent increase in visitors to this year’s show at Excel London.

Organiser
Reed Exhibitions said 28,183 visitors attended this year (pending ABC
audit), up from 26,908 in 2010. The result followed a 10 per cent rise
in visitors between 2009 and 2010. Overall, 47,776 people participated
in WTM from 7 to 10 November.

“To cement last year’s 10 per cent
visitor increase with a further 5 per cent rise is a great result,”
Reed Travel Exhibitions Director for WTM Simon Press said.

“Most
important is the record number attending the first day of WTM 2011
under the Exhibitor Invitations policy. The 14 per cent increase in
exhibitor invitees on the Monday of WTM 2011 and the success of the WTM
Speed Networking sets the event up to conduct a record amount
ofbusiness.”

Overall, 204 of the exhibitor’s invited buyers and
457 exhibitors took part in the inaugural speed networking session.

According
to Reed, WTM 2010 generated £1.42bn in industry deals, up 25 per cent
on the 2009 figure of £1.13bn. The 2012 edition returns to Excel from 5
to 8 November.
