CWT Meetings and Events is the first agency to throw its support behind Britain for Events, the annual marketing campaign promoting the UK events industry.

“Having the support of CWT represents another great endorsement for the campaign, which now covers the full spectrum of organisations from buyers and suppliers to stakeholder and government organisations,” Chair of the Business Visits and Events Partnership, Michael Hirst, said. “CWT adds a credible and recognised voice to the campaign from a professional and successful event organising business. We’re delighted to have them on-board.”

CWT Business Development Manager for UK and Ireland, Jane Baker, said its support is a reflection of the growth and importance of the meetings and events sector.

“We work with some of the most successful and innovative companies in Britain who use meetings and events to motivate, educate and connect with their customers, partners and people,” she said. “Live experiences provide organisations with a powerful and measurable marketing tool.”

CWT doubled its UK turnover during 2010 and is on target to achieve year-on-year growth of 44 per cent in 2011 to £27m. The team hopes to achieve £48m turnover by the end of 2013. To meet the current M&E demand from its clients, the agency has grown by 40 per cent to more than 55 members this year.

Now in its 10th year, Britain for Events is an annual campaign aimed at promoting the value of event tourism to the British economy and celebrate the creativity of those organisations within it. Endorsed by the Minister for Tourism, John Penrose MP, the Business Visits and Events Partnership and national tourism body VisitBritain, the campaign also has the support of the regional tourism bodies from England and Scotland along with a number of high-profile industry and corporate brands.

The campaign will run until International Confex at Excel London in March 2012.
