A new community has emerged in the events industry.

SPARK aims to ignite leadership, amplify voices, and foster growth for women in tech-focused event and marketing roles.

SPARK is for professionals from emerging leaders to seasoned executives who want community, collaboration, and clarity in their careers.

The benefits include access to curated networking opportunities, mentorship from industry trailblazers, educational content designed with women in mind, and a safe space to ask questions, share wins, and grow together.

Ultimately, SPARK helps women go further faster by giving them the spark and the support they need to thrive.

Founded by Meribeth Golec, senior global events specialist at Storyblok and Jess Hop, content manager for events at Databricks.

Storyblok is a headless CMS designed for both developers and marketers while Databricks is a data and AI company that provides a unified platform for data engineering, machine learning, and analytics.

SPARK was born out of a growing need to create a dedicated, supportive space for women navigating the world of technology within their roles in events, and marketing.

Co-founder, Jess Hop said: “These industries that can often feel isolating, especially at leadership levels. The inspiration came from recognising that while women are making incredible strides in these fields, many still face challenges around visibility, advocacy, and professional development.”

SPARK uniquely supports women by combining professional networking with targeted mentorship, skill-building resources, and honest conversations about industry dynamics.

Hop added: “It’s not just about empowerment—it’s about equipping women with the tools, connections, and confidence to lead boldly and spark change in their careers and companies.”

Hop says SPARK members are currently discussing topics ranging from navigating career advancement in male-dominated environments to balancing innovation with the risk of burnout.

She added: “Topics like negotiating pay, leading with authenticity, and building inclusive event strategies are front and centre.”
