Eight event agencies leading the way on mental health support

Mental health in the workplace is no longer a peripheral concern—it’s central to how event agencies attract talent, deliver great work and retain teams. With Mental Health Awareness Week in full swing, it’s the perfect time to spotlight the agencies that are leading the charge when it comes to staff wellbeing.

From in-house mental health training to flexible working and proactive policies, these companies aren’t just talking about change – they’re delivering it.

Strata:

Brand experience agency, Strata, give their employees free access to a confidential Employee Assistance Line and private health insurance, which includes professional mental health support.

Several team members have completed mental health training and are available for informal support. They also have a ‘Stuff Happens’ initiative which allows employees to take immediate time off for personal matters by emailing their manager with the subject “Stuff happens” and how long they need off – no questions asked.

They also promote the right to disconnect, encouraging all employees to respect personal time by avoiding out-of-hours emails or messages unless urgent, and to use tools like ‘delay send’, reminders, ‘do not disturb’ and diary blocks to help manage their time effectively.

Jake Shuckburgh, group chief people officer said: “We prioritise our team’s mental health and wellbeing and regularly review how we support it. Our active social committee organises monthly events such as lunches, wellness activities, and team-building sessions to support both physical and mental wellbeing.”

We are Collider:

Brand experience agency We Are Collider offer tools as part of their benefits package such as access to counselling, CBT and free wellbeing apps.

Managing director Tracy Sorgiovanni said: “We believe that mental health support within the industry shouldn’t be reactive. It should be baked into culture and be systemic within the agency’s working practices.

“We are instilling a feeling in all staff that they can be open about their mental health with managers and agency leaders and that those managers feel empowered to put support mechanisms in place.”

Be in Your Element:

Wellness events agency Be in Your Element creates experiences that prioritise human sustainability and mental well-being, not just for event attendees but also within their team culture.

Their work focuses on events and activations that centre calm, connection and psychological safety, offering moments of pause in often high energy environments.

Founder, Lucy Eden said: “Internally, we champion flexible working, open conversations around mental health, and ongoing learning around well-being practices. For us, wellbeing isn’t a trend, it’s the foundation for creativity, collaboration and lasting impact.”

Evolve Events:

Creative director, Anna Peters said: “At Evolve, we believe wellbeing should be built in, not bolted on.”

Full service events agency Evolve Events, champion slow, flight-free travel as a key part of their culture and client offereing. As founding members of TravelPerks, we give our team paid “journey days” to travel by train instead of flying, allowing time to switch off, reflect and arrive feeling truly present.

Internally they offer flexi-hours, wellbeing days and peer roundtables to help create a supportive, balanced working environments. When it comes to events they embed wellbeing into the event design itself.

Peters said: “Through our partnership with Be In Your Element, our DDR packages at Sands End include a choice of wellbeing activities as standard, making wellness a seamless part of the experience rather than an optional add-on. For us, wellbeing isn’t a trend, it’s a way of working, living and delivering meaningful impact.”

The Intrepid Collective

The Intrepid Collective offers a flexible working policy, extended holiday allowance and an open culture. The agency also provides employees with a monthly wellness benefit which they can use however they would like.

Their events are designed to bring people together, whether its a colour-by-numbers installation aimed at encouraging people to take a pause in their day or a holistic programme of yoga, candle making and journalling.

Megan Anstee, co-founder and director said: “Providing moments of self-care and reflection, the majority of events that we produce take place outdoors in carefully curated settings. CTL Communications

CTL Communications operates as a full remote organisation and fosters a culture of belonging and prioritising supporting the teams mental wellbeing.

They offer a private healthcare programme, which offers free access to self-help apps such as Headspace and free talking therapies that are quick and easy to access.

They also offer flexible working for those that need a little extra personal time and fund office spaces for those that might prefer to work around others outside of their home. As well, the agency runs CTL Action, a month-long programme aimed a promoting excercise which has been proven to significantly improve mental wellbeing. Previously they partenred with The Jordan Legacy, sponsoring their conference in suicide prevention, spotting signs and how to affectively talk about suicide.

Asembl has implemented an internal initiative in the last couple of years, called asembl.connects, which focuses on creating a culture where employees feel valued and supported professionally and personally.

They have also implemented private health cover and a new project management tool to help manage workloads better. The private health cover includes comprehensive wellbeing screenings and an employee assistance programme, which offers confidential counselling sessions.

The fast-paced world of events can be both exhilarating and demanding, so mental health support isn’t just a box to tick; it’s something we genuinely try to prioritise. “

She added: “From celebrating achievements, marking birthdays and work anniversaries, embracing awareness days and holidays for some office fun, thoughtful touches to recognise and appreciate, giving team shout-outs, regular one-to-ones, open anonymous feedback and quarterly team meetings, we’re constantly looking at ways to nurture a positive culture.”

Wonder

Lucy Montgomery, head of client services at Wonder said: “Events are widely considered one of the most stressful industries, so promoting positive mental health and preventing burnout are absolutely key at Wonder. Everything we do, internally and externally, isPeople-First.”

They offer small things like a bright, well set up office, a cupboard full of healthy snacks, early finishes on a Friday, a run club and bigger things like multiple trained mental health first aiders in the team, a private healthcare policy with enhanced mental health cover, policies on wellbeing and neurodiversity through to breathwork classes and team ice-baths.

Montgomery added: “When it comes to our client events, the attendees – and the industries they represent – are no different. Ultimately, we want every attendee to walk away with a brilliant experience, feeling considered, cared for and heard.”
