Global engineering organisation, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), will be investing over half a million pounds in its two leading city centre events venues throughout 2025.

Based in the UK’s two biggest cities, IET London: Savoy Place and IET Birmingham: Austin Court will undergo upgrades worth a combined £540,000.

Austin Court, a Grade II listed, multi-purpose events venue in the heart of the Midlands, will complete a £150,000 WiFi upgrade early next year which will future proof the venue’s connectivity network for the next decade.

A £125,000 lift upgrade will create a smoother and more efficient guest journey around the building, while the £25,000 allocated for new audio-visual (AV) control desks will further enhance the venue’s premium event production capabilities and elevate visitors’ sensory experience.

Savoy Place will receive a £240,000 upgrade to its lighting and AV facilities next year, ensuring the award-winning venue remains unrivalled for the level and quality of AV support it can offer clients.

Sean Spencer, head of IET Venues and Facilities, said: “These investments demonstrate our commitment to providing first-class facilities and unparalleled service, and we can’t wait for clients and guests to feel their benefit.”

Both venues curate events for high-profile national and international clients including MET Office, which held its Inquisitive Minds Expo at Austin Court in June, and MIP, which held its inaugural, five-day MIP London event at Savoy Place in February.
