Glasgow’s SEC is gearing up to host its third HYROX event from 12-16 March, welcoming thousands of athletes and spectators to one of the world’s fastest-growing fitness competitions.

This year, the venue has also been selected as one of just four global locations—alongside Hong Kong, Amsterdam, and Las Vegas – to host a HYROX ELITE 15 – MAJOR race, where top athletes will race head-to-head for a highly sought-after spot in the ELITE15.

Among the19,000 competitors taking part, five SEC staff members—Chris McConnell, Gemma Roxburgh, Jacqueline Elder, Mark McElwain, and Charlene Stafford—will be competing on home soil.

Elder said: “We’ve been talking about HYROX all year, both at work and in training. Competing in our hometown and workplace is an incredible opportunity. We can’t wait to push ourselves to the limit and experience the electric atmosphere that makes HYROX so special.”

HYROX continues to expand globally, with events across 11 countries attracting elite athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts alike. Combining running with functional workout stations, the competition delivers a high-energy, immersive race experience, further amplified by the passion of its spectators.

Competitors will travel from around the world—including New Zealand, the USA, and Spain — bringing a significant boost to the city’s hospitality sector as they explore Glasgow’s hotels, restaurants, bars, and attractions.

Angela Smith, head of new business at the SEC, highlighted HYROX’s impact: “HYROX has been a tremendous success for the SEC, growing year on year.”

Amber Ruddle, head of marketing for HYROX said: “With 19,000 athletes set to compete across four days of racing, the atmosphere will be nothing short of electric. The SEC is a fantastic venue and the perfect stage for HYROX, offering our Scottish community the incredible opportunity to compete on their very own home turf.”
