Surrey-based boutique event management company, Viva Esprit, has earned the Greengage ECOsmart certification for its dedication to environmental sustainability.

The ECOsmart certification recognises organisations that implement and promote sustainable practices in line with the guidelines set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals framework and ISO14001 standards.

To secure the accreditation, Viva Esprit implemented a variety of measures to reduce its environmental impact.

These measures include offering digital solutions to eliminate the need for printing at events; using environmentally friendly materials in the office and aiming to eliminate single-use plastics; and advising clients on the most sustainable locations and methods of transportation for events.

Other measures that were demonstrated include collaborating with venues that have sustainable accreditation; selecting environmentally friendly suppliers through a supplier benchmarking questionnaire; and reusing or recycling materials.

Viva Esprit director Nadine Fenton said, “The events industry is vital to thriving communities, providing the means to unite in collaboration and celebration. This, in turn, comes with a duty of care for people and the environment. We are thankful to the team at Greengage for supporting us on our sustainability journey. We recognise that this is a continuous process; we are committed to promoting sustainable options and exceptional event experiences. Sustainability should not be a compromise.”
