Manchester will host the Green Party Autumn Conference at Manchester Central from 6-8 September, following a collaborative effort led by Marketing Manchester and supported by Manchester Central and the Manchester Accommodation BID.
Following a significant election where the Green Party quadrupled its parliamentary seats, the conference will bring 1,200 delegates to the city, generating an estimated £1.7 million in economic impact.
The Manchester Accommodation BID manages funds from the £1 city visitor charge on overnight stays, using them to attract events that increase city visits and overnight stays. The conference marks the first time the Green Party has chosen Manchester, following previous events in Brighton, Harrogate and Birmingham.
Victoria Braddock, managing director of Marketing Manchester, highlighted the event’s importance: “Manchester is delighted to welcome the Green Party Conference. This event underscores Manchester’s role in political discourse and showcases our capabilities as a premier conference destination. It aligns with Greater Manchester’s ambitions for sustainability, social equity, and leadership in shaping a progressive future.”
Kumar Mishra, chair of the Manchester Accommodation BID, emphasised the strategic impact of BID funds: “Hosting the Green Party Autumn Conference in Manchester is a testament to the strategic use of Accommodation BID funds. These events boost our economy, support jobs in the hospitality sector, and solidify Manchester’s reputation as a vibrant, must-visit destination.”
