The latest figures from Manchester’s Hotel Football show the venue experienced record trading last year for its events spaces.

The hotel, co-founded by former Manchester United players Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville, welcomed more than 18,600 delegates to more than 300 events last year, a 13% increase in delegates year on year.

Featuring five separate event spaces including a 359 square foot Stadium Suite with views of Old Trafford, and a 50-capacity Old Trafford Supporters Club basement bar, the hotel also offers the UK’s only hotel rooftop 5-a-side football pitch which can be transformed into an open-air event space.

The hotel itself welcomed more than 52,400 guests in the 12 months to December 2023, while financial figures also reveal the hotel recorded its highest turnover on record since opening in 2015 at £8.2million, due to increased demand.

The hotel is located directly next to Old Trafford stadium, the home of Manchester United, and only a ten minute walk from the city’s Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground.

Bookings for the hotel’s Matchday Experiences which offer fans pre and post match hospitality, including a three-course dining menu, in addition to Q&As with a former Manchester United player, have attracted corporates looking for team events. Speakers in the past 12 months have included Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.

Jessica Southworth, director of sales and marketing at Hotel Football, said: “We have seen an increase in the past 12 months in corporates who are looking for something different for their internal staff meetings and events, or from event organisers who want exclusive, exciting spaces.

“Most notably, bookings for social events where corporate C-suite members can host investors or key stakeholders, and the views and proximity we have to Old Trafford position us as second-to-none in this area. Our Matchday Experiences have continued to perform very well and this looks set to continue.

“Smaller meeting spaces, and even informal meetings in our restaurant and bar area, Cafe Football, have also become popular as remote teams search for a venue with easy transport links and which can provide both privacy, a point of difference and a relaxed atmosphere.

“As Manchester continues to excel on a global stage, and with the clear attraction of Old Trafford stadium next door, we are expecting this particular trend to continue as we move through 2024.”
