Winners revealed for 2023 miaList

The Meetings Industry Association has revealed the winners of its 2023 miaList.

Now in its thirteenth year, the list recognises “inspiring individuals and teams who continually go the extra mile” and play a pivotal role in making their organisations successful.

The 2023 event took place on 6 October at Park Plaza Victoria, London following the mia’s inaugural miaSummit.

The 10 individuals who secured a place on the miaList, were:

  • Caroline Reed, NewcastleGateshead Initiative
  • Charly Andrews, Bath & West Showground
  • Danielle Bounds, ICC Wales
  • Hannah Robinson, BMA House
  • Helen Applin, Meet Bristol & Bath Convention Bureau
  • Krishna Pastakia, Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre
  • Lauren Hudson, Manchester Central
  • Roisin Ryan, Richmond Hill Hotel
  • Sarah Franczak, Central Hall Venues
  • Sebastien Babin-Roadley, The Venues Collection 

New for this year, the 2023 miaList introduced a Star of the Future award, shining a spotlight on an “outstanding” professional, student or apprentice who has been in the industry for less than a year. Whittebury Park & LifeTime Training’s Grace Goodger was recognised due to her “exemplary customer service” and “clear drive to become a leader in her team and the industry.”

Other wins included:

  • Venue of the Year – The Eastside Rooms
  • Supplier of the Year – First Travel Solutions
  • Agency of the Year – Broadsword
  • Destination Team of Year – Visit Belfast
  • Events and Operations Team of the Year – Warwick Conferences
  • Sales and Marketing Team of the Year – NEC Conventions: The ICC, NEC and VOX
  • Innovation Award – Horwood House Hotel
  • Sustainability Award – Spaces at The Spine
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – University of Leeds Conferences and Events

Kerrin MacPhie, chief executive of the mia, said: “Securing a place on the miaList is no mean feat, particularly this year, so we’d like to congratulate all of those that have made this year’s roll of honour and those who made our competitive shortlist. We were blown away with the number of entries to this year’s miaList, and to celebrate so many talented individuals and teams with our biggest event yet was incredibly gratifying.”
