{10-11} Carlton House Terrace, home to The British Academy, has announced it is taking bookings from April 2024 for its new event spaces, following a £9.6m refurbishment.

The refurbishment has transformed previously underutilised spaces into three, double-height event spaces. The refurbishment, led by architects Wright and Wright, focused on creating event spaces that are “digitally enabled”, fully accessible and sustainable.

Located on the lower ground floor, the new event spaces are capable of hosting up to 125 attendees, and include the Lecture Room, Mall Room and Shape Room.

The event spaces can be used for a range of events such as lectures, conferences, brand launches; board meetings and team training days; as well as for drinks receptions and exhibitions.

Commenting on the news, Catherine Owen, head of venue sales and marketing, {10-11} Carlton House Terrace, said: “The venue’s transformation will create flexible rooms for new ways of meeting and sharing in digital, hybrid and in-person formats.

“These tech enabled spaces will fit sympathetically alongside our Georgian architecture, and we are excited to be able to offer the old and the new to suit our clients.”

The development was made possible through the the Wolfson Foundation, which provided a lead gift of £5m as part of a major grant of £10m to support the humanities and social sciences.
