ICC Birmingham has signed a multi-year deal with Birmingham City University to continue to bring graduation ceremonies to the venue.

The ceremonies will welcome thousands of students to celebrate their achievements at both summer and winter celebrations over the next five years, with graduates using venue facilities to collect their caps and gowns, as well as have official photographs taken.

Impact in the education sector

The deal further cements ICC Birmingham’s growing presence in the education sector, working with a wide range of education associations, colleges and universities. In the last 12 months, the venue has welcomed 15,000 delegates across 14 educational events, while retaining multiple contracts for future years.

This includes a three-year extension with the Association of Colleges, which sees 1,200 delegates attend a November conference. The venue has held the event since 2001, which supports further education, sixth form, tertiary and specialist colleges in England.

As well as this, ICC Birmingham has worked with Association of School and College Leaders, Jisc, Independent Schools’ Bursars Association, Inspiring Leadership, Newman University, Windsor Academy Trust, The Open University, University College Birmingham and NASUWT – The Teachers’ Union in the last calendar year.

The ICC also has a new event in the calendar for the next two years, hosting the Confederation of School Trust’s annual conference.

Jordan Whittington, account director for associations at ICC Birmingham, said: “The ICC is an ideal location for events of this kind, with our versatile spaces and accessibility at the heart of Birmingham, with a plethora of space and nearby hotels to make our visitors’ stay a comfortable one.”
