London’s business growth and consultancy agency London and Partners has launched ‘London’s 2030 Tourism Vision’.
The 2030 Tourism Vision, supported by the Mayor of London, is based on “extensive research, stakeholder roundtables, a written consultation and analysis.”
Some findings include:
– Six in 10 Brits are more confident about booking a city break again following the pandemic.
– Approximately 60% of Brits are proud to call London their capital city.
– Brits’ favourite part of London is its historic sites, with Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Big Ben and London Eye featuring in the top five choices.
– Green issues are becoming a top consideration for travellers, with over half of Brits saying they consider their carbon footprint when booking a holiday.
The four pillars
The vision sets a direction for the industry on how to achieve this by 2030, through four pillars:
1. Managing the destination – how London can expand its offering, improving data sharing and visitor knowledge.
2. Maximising impact for Londoners – how the industry drives positive change for London and Londoners.
3. Leading in sustainability – how tourism plays its part in supporting London and the UK’s goals.
4. Redefining success – how London measures impact and shapes future growth.
Commenting on the new vision, Rose Wangen-Jones, managing director, marketing, destination and commercial at London and Partners, said: “So much has changed since our last Tourism Vision back in 2017. We knew it was absolutely essential to create a new framework to support one of London’s most vital industries.”
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, added: “Tourism is a key driver of London’s economy, supports over half a million jobs, and is one of the cornerstones of our diverse, vibrant, global city. This Tourism Vision builds on the inspiring way the tourism and hospitality sector came together during the pandemic, working collaboratively for the benefit of their businesses and the capital’s recovery.”
