One of the North East’s largest event spaces has received a £250,000 refurbishment, along with a new name.
The former Lancastrian Suite at Dunston, Gateshead has been renamed The Fed, a reference to the Federation Brewery which was previously based at the site.
The venue can host up to 1,000 people for a standing event and up to 700 for a sit-down dinner and dance.
As part of the refurbishment, a new sound and light system, video walls and floor have all been installed, with the venue having also been redecorated.
Commenting on the venue, John Adamson, owner of Ramside Estates, said: “The Fed has always been a favourite venue because of the amount of guests it can accommodate. But now, with the investment, it will have even more appeal and we are very keen to be able to show it off.
“We have already had a huge amount of interest because there aren’t many stand alone venues of this size in the region, so The Fed really is an ideal location for everything from conferences to celebrations to award ceremonies to sporting events.”
