Comprising seven museums and art galleries in and around Liverpool, National Museums Liverpool offer a wide range of events and spaces against a unique backdrop of historic artefacts and world-class art. Each event that takes place within one of its venues is curated by an in-house venue hire team, Hosted by National Museums Liverpool, who deliver all kinds of functions from dinners, conferences and drinks receptions to Christmas parties, weddings and location filming.
World Museum is the oldest of the museums and galleries in its portfolio, with origins dating back to the mid 1880s. In addition to a lecture theatre and large, versatile galleries – including one with capacity for up to 600 guests for dinner – the historic venue also boasts three multi-functional event spaces across the ground floor, plus a newly-decorated boardroom.
Located on the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, the Maritime Museum offers a number of spaces for both daytime conferences and evening events, including a spacious 200-seat lecture theatre with integrated audio-visual technology, and two dedicated events suites.
Right next to the River Mersey, the Museum of Liverpool features galleries with floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a dramatic atrium and sweeping staircase. This large venue allows for a capacity of up to 1,000 people for a drinks reception, as well as a fantastic 168-seat lecture theatre and a selection of meeting rooms. This museum was the main location for the tenth edition of the G7 Summit of Foreign and Development Ministers talks in December 2021.
Walker Art Gallery can host dinners for up to 80 guests and receptions for up to 400, while Lady Lever Art Gallery – set in the picturesque Port Sunlight village on the Wirral – has a capacity for 150 for dinners and 400 for receptions. Sudley House, located in the leafy suburbs of South Liverpool, is an ideal location for more intimate receptions.
Across all venues, catering is provided by a team of in-house chefs, who can create food for any occasion, from fine dining to relaxed street food. Each and every dish is expertly curated from design to delivery, whether you opt for something from one of the set menus, or work with the chefs to craft a bespoke, one-of-a-kind menu.
All profits from events are returned to National Museums Liverpool to support its valuable work. By hosting your event at one of the organisation’s seven venues, you are directly helping to support the future of its museums and galleries.
