Today, 10 September, the Business Travel Association (BTA), has revealed the UK has lost £4.47bn in GDP last week due to the decline of business travel trips following Covid-19.
Data from Travelogix shows that in the first week of September 2021, international business travel trips from the UK dropped by 80.18% compared to the same week in 2019, and there were 339,758 fewer international and domestic business travel trips, a reduction of 69.42%.
The data shows travel restrictions to the Republic of Ireland have cost UK GDP £632m, the USA has cost UK GDP £538m, Germany has cost UK GDP £543m, France has cost UK GDP £551m and Singapore has cost UK GDP £368m.
