As part of the National Sales Conference’s series of webinars, hosted by Lincoln West, Conference News editor Martin Fullard will be joining the Association of Event Organiser’s Chris Skeith and VisitBritain’s Jamie Ades to discuss how to master virtual meetings, webinars and sales conversations for those selling in the events industry.

The webinar will be hosted by performance coach and former Hollywood actor Dominic Colenso and will take place at 11am, 26 May.

The session will cover the tools and techniques for showing up powerfully in front of the camera, how to build rapport with event sponsors and prospects, how to effectively chair meetings with key stakeholders, and how to use webinars to engage delegates and visitors.

Session host, Colenso explained more about the content. He said: “This webinar will give you the skills and strategies you need to transition your events online. As a former professional actor I know how to perform in front of the camera and I’m going to share a toolkit that will give you more confidence and allow you to create a deeper connection with your audience. Video is now an essential part of any successful business. Showing up powerfully onscreen and creating events that engage and delight will allow you to continue to serve your customers in these uncertain times.”

Looking ahead to the session, Conference News editor Martin Fullard said event professionals should not underestimate the quality of good online practice. He said: “When events return – if we can use that expression – they are going to look quite different. There is no substitute for a live experience, but all events will need some manner of digital element, and there will be an expectation that it should be a quality addition.

“Simply logging on to Zoom and talking isn’t enough, you must be able to engage with your speakers and audience. Brands are going to want a refined, user-friendly experience, and you will need the tools and skills to be able to deliver. Don’t underestimate it.”

Referring to the challenges faced by salespeople, Steve Lindsey, MD at Lincoln West, noted the importance of strength during the Covid-19 crisis. He said: “Resilience and the ability to adapt to changing conditions is essential to succeeding both in life and business. The only thing you can guarantee in life, is that things will not go according to plan.

“Never be surprised by surprise, spend your time removing luck, remove the things you cannot control and focus on those you can. Now more than ever, sales leaders and sales professionals need to adapt, up-skill and invest in their own personal development.”
