The International Association of Speakers Bureaus (IASB) has appointed Nick Gold as its first UK board president for 2020-2021.

As an IASB member and the former chairman of the EASB (European Association of Speaker Bureaus), Gold aims to increase the support IASB members can deliver to organizations. Gold has been involved in IASB through volunteer leadership roles including co-chair of the organization’s premiere event and annual convention, ENGAGE in 2017, prior to being elected to the board by the members in 2018.

As the founder and managing director of Speakers Corner, Gold has spoken at industry events such as Confex and The Meetings Show and has been interviewed on BBC and LBC radio. His work has also been published in The Telegraph, City AM, Huffington Post UK and GQ.com.

Richard Schelp, owner of executive Speakers Bureau has been an IASB member since 2004 and will serve on the board’s executive committee through April 2021 as its immediate past president.

Gold commented: “There is no historical precedent right now to deal with Covid-19 and the events industry has taken a huge hit. However even in this challenging period we’ve seen a mindset shift over night to embrace virtual events as an interim solution and still deliver the power of the spoken word to audiences across the globe.

“The events industry is full of incredibly talented and creative individuals who will rise to the challenges we face and deliver extraordinary value to guide our clients and audiences through this period.”
