As the latest of its initiatives to support members’ business and health needs during Covid-19, HBAA is bringing together business owners and senior leaders representing the wide range of their membership in the events and hospitality industry,  for a panel discussion on the major commercial and operational issues brought about by the global pandemic.

The 45-minute HBAA Covid Coffee Session, titled “Challenge, Engage, Collaborate”, is for members only and will take place on Thursday 30 April at 2pm, followed by a 15-minute Q&A.

The discussion will debate how the industry can continue working in partnership to support each side of the business today and in the future. Topics include managing cash flow and payment strategies, furloughing staff and communications around payments as well as current activity to support the eventual restart for the business travel and events industry.

The webinar will be hosted by Jason Cardy of Capita Travel & Events and moderated by Martin Fullard, editor of Conference News. Agency representatives on the panel will be Chris Peacock of Conference Care, Julie Shorrock of HTS and HBAA Agency Engagement Chair,  Jacqui Kavanagh of Trinity Event Solutions. Venue panellists will include Gareth Warnock of De Vere Hotels and Venues, Jane Griffiths of GLH Hotels and Louisa Watson of Wyboston Lakes.

Lex Butler, HBAA chair, said: “Making isolated decisions about withholding of cash will not only cause short-term cash flow issues, but will also impact upon future relationships built up over time. It is during such challenging times that businesses need to work smarter together and work through ways of navigating this period.

“Our industry’s future is being shaped, short, medium or long term, and how we engage and interact with each other now will cement ways of working and help us all arrive at the future norm cohesively,  and united to rise and thrive.”
