The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) will welcome the results of an urgent survey conducted by the Meetings Industry Association.

The survey’s result will be key in helping shape the recovery when organised events are allowed to take place once more.

Respondents must complete the survey by 12pm on 30 April.

The Meetings Industry Association must present its contribution to the DCMS on the morning of 1 May.

In a message to members, the association’s chief executive Jane Longhurst said: “For any other industry turning something around at very short notice is simply impossible but, in our sector, it’s something we all do every day in our operations. So, when I received the short notice request, I just knew it would be a breeze.

“The only way to provide the answers DCMS needs, is to ask you to complete another survey so it is essential that we collect enough responses to provide the government with informed business intelligence.

“Your answers are crucial. They will guide DCMS’s thinking around sectors that are able to open for business, whilst managing social distancing and what businesses need to make this viable.

“Potentially our sector could lead the way and help build buyer confidence with smaller meetings, seminars and training – demonstrating how amazing events can still happen even in an environment of social distancing

“It is imperative that our voice is heard, we must take every opportunity to get businesses moving for our sector as soon as the government feels it is right to do so.

“Please complete this confidential survey, no matter how many other surveys you have done, this could be the one that really matters to your business and our sector as a whole.”
