Down Hall, a Hertforshire-based luxury hotel, has announced the appointment of Ken Flockhart as general manager.
Flockhart brings with him over 30 years of experience in the hospitality sector, and has a strong record in customer service, profit improvement and employee development as hotels and resorts across the globe.
His first task will be to re-open the hotel following the Covid-19 pandemic with a number of events for the local community and key workers. He will also be responsible for leading the team at Down Hall, whilst driving business development, procurement, recruitment and training, and ensuring a consistent level of service across the board.
Flockhart previously worked as a general manager for Somerset-based Warner Cricket St Thomas Hotel, where he was responsible for the historic hotel’s 239 rooms, two restaurants and bars, a 500-seat entertainment venue, leisure club and 160 acres of grounds within the 1,000 acre grounds. Flockhart has also worked internationally, with previous roles taking him to the Bahamas, Antigua, Grenada, Qatar and Spain.
Flockhart said of his new role: ‘It’s an absolute pleasure to join one of the UK’s leading luxury country house hotels. I’m looking forward to the hotel reopening and supporting the ambitious plans afoot at Down Hall as we grow our weddings, conferencing and events offering, and to working alongside such a committed and talented team.’
