ICE Talks, the educational sector of the ICE corporate event organiser community, has announced it will be hosting a seminar and panel discussion at International Confex on running sustainable events.
The session will be titled ‘It starts with a pair of shoes’ and aims to compile a list for event professionals on how to achieve sustainable events.
It follows the launch of the organisation’s new initiative, ‘It Takes a Pair of Shoes’.
The inspiration of the session originated from a talk delivered by Katherine McCartney, a leader behind the TED conferences, at ICE Talks last year.
The discussion will cover different sustainability topics including food waste, plastic use and delegate transport. ICE will also continue the conversation through its social media.
Anita Howard, managing director, ICE, said: “We had a really interesting discussion during our first session, and there were some brilliant ideas, from both the panel and the audience, of small actions that go a very long way.
“I look forward to hearing what else the industry is currently doing towards climate change and hope that through these discussions, we’ll be able to bring together a sustainability roadmap that will help organisers in their efforts towards sustainability.”
