CEME Conference Centre, an East London meetings, conference and exhibition venue, has announced the recruitment of Andor Farkas as its new marketing and sales executive.
Farkas joins the CEME Conference Centre with a business management and leadership degree from CU London, part of the Coventry University group.
He also joins the company from Hungary after moving to the UK to search for a career in the business sector. Whilst living in London, Farkas worked in the hospitality sector and has experience as a bartender.
His new role at the CEME Conference Centre will include selling event spaces alongside completing his studies at Coventry University’s London’s Dagenham campus.
Farkas said: “I felt like I had to leave Hungary to find a job that would help me to have a better life, so I took the plunge and moved to the UK with very little English. It was a scary prospect but one I felt I had to do.”
To be successful, Farkas “looked for opportunities” and handed in his CV at CEME. He commented that “it wasn’t long after that I had a call inviting me for an interview.”
He adds that it was his “passion”, “enthusiasm” and “the theory” he learned from Coventry University that supported his successful application.
Farkas concluded: “If I had one piece of advice to other students, it would be to really put yourself out there – ask for work experience, hand out your CV, be persistent, and be prepared for change!”
