Bedford Lodge, a hotel and spa located in Newmarket, has announced that it has raised £179 for The East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), a charity which provides doctors and paramedics by air to ill or injured people across East Anglia.

The hotel and spa raised the money by encouraging its staff members to wear a Christmas jumper and donate £5 in the process. The two members of staff with the best Christmas jumpers were presented with a bottle of Moët & Chandon from Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa’s chief executive, Noel Byrne.

Throughout the year, the hotel and spa has hosted fundraising activities such as a Halloween cake bake, a series of donation days which included £1 from each bar sale and £5 from each hotel stay being donated, a Molton Brown advent calendar raffle and an ‘inner peace’ spa day and break, where £5 from each guest was donated.

In September, two staff members also participated in the Yorkshire ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ in just 12 hours, which raised additional funds for the charity.

Byrne, chief executive, Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, said: “It is always fantastic to see our staff members getting so involved in the fundraising events at the hotel, and even better to know that the money we raise is going to such a worthy cause that benefits the local community.

“The work that East Anglian Air Ambulance carries out is incredibly important and they work tirelessly, especially over the Christmas period. The charity is currently looking to operate 24/7 by helicopter and I feel proud that our donation will support them in reaching that goal.”
