Financial services event Sibos says it has “broken all previous records” during its week-long event at ExCeL London, 23-26 September. Delegate numbers were up on previous events, with more than 11,000 visitors passing through the door, and in addition to 300 exhibitors.

Organised by SWIFT, the Society for World Interbank Financial Telecommunications, its global community convened in London for the first time in the event’s history.

Chantal Van Es, head of Sibos, commented: “London is a global hub and we were proud to welcome thousands of delegates from more than 150 countries to the city for what proved to be an extremely successful and memorable Sibos. With over 11,000 delegates, hundreds of exhibitors and sessions packed with inspiring speakers, Sibos remains the place to be to shape financial services into the future.”

Jane Hague, head of business development, conferences & events, at ExCeL London, added: “This has been an unprecedented event for Sibos, and we are so proud to have been the host venue. In our bid, we built a strong case for London, garnering support from the city’s financial, technology and business tourism communities, which led to our success in being selected for 2019. To see this come to fruition and deliver record-breaking numbers is just incredible and is testimony to London’s position as a world-leading events destination.”

ExCeL London says that organisers see an average visitor increase of 20% when compared with events hosted in other European cities.
