Rowan Kitching, director of events at The HAC, has been announced as the returning chair of London City Selection. The consortium, which comprises exceptional venues and suppliers located within the Square Mile, has also appointed three new members to the board and retained four individuals who served on the panel last year.

“We’ve got a fabulous group of people heading up London City Selection this year,” said Kitching. “Not only do we have some amazing venues represented on the board, we also have some key figures from the catering and hotel world.”

The board is confirmed as:

Returning:

Chair: Rowan Kitching (The HAC)

Oliver Hargreaves (Barbican)

Sarah McQueen (Museum of London)

Mo Issa (The Mermaid)

Paul Martins (Cavendish Venues)

New:

Sarah Levy (Life’s Kitchen)

Claire Bastin (Postal Museum)

Elizabeth Masella (Thistle Barbican)

“Last year our membership grew by 18%,” continued Kitching. “London City Selection generated new leads with a combined value of over £2m for its members – we’re really looking forward to building on that success. As well as running our hugely popular industry workshops and attending exhibitions (like Square Meal) on behalf of our members, we’re also going to be focussing on marketing the City of London as a destination.”

Each of the new members of the board brings with them unique skills and has been tasked with distinct areas on which to focus their talents.

“I am delighted to have joined London City Selection with Painters Hall,” says Sarah Levy. “I’m joining the board this year as the lead on the Square Meal exhibition – a fantastic event for the consortium. I look forward to working with the other member venues closely over the next year.”

Elizabeth Masella, also new to the board this year, said: “I look forward to taking on the challenge of improving the working relationship between LCS venue and hotel members.’ She goes onto explain ‘this is with a view to increasing the accommodation referrals for hotels and ultimately attracting more hotel members to our group.”

The third and final new board member, Claire Bastin, added: “As a new heritage venue in Farringdon, The Postal Museum and Mail Rail are confident that LCS will provide a plethora of unique opportunities to generate awareness and reach within one of our key target markets.”
