EventWell18, the event wellbeing week campaign, takes place 17-21 September, and runs under the theme ‘Looking after YOU and YOURS’, to encourage event professionals first and foremost to be taking better care of themselves.

The second part of the campaign aims to promote the health benefits of human contact, touch and importantly hugs with the hashtag #huganeventprof, with event professionals being encouraged to post images of reciprocal hugs with colleagues and friends on social platforms such as Twitter and Instagram to help raise awareness and engagement for the campaign messaging.

EventWell director and co-founder Helen Moon (pictured) said: “The enthusiasm as always from the industry for this year’s campaign week has been incredibly positive and encouraging, as it shows that the event professionals are now seriously thinking about how to implement necessary change that impacts positively and supports not just the overall wellbeing and health of employees, colleagues, peers and friends, but also their own.”

“Last year the focus was very much on starting the conversations and opening up the lines of communication whereas this year, it’s time to start taking action, not just from an organisation perspective but industry wide. The responsibility for our wellbeing and health lies fundamentally with ourselves as individuals first and foremost and this is where the campaign message of Looking After YOU and YOURS comes into force. This should of course be supported by organisations and industry to ensure that our work environments are healthy, happy, safe and secure.”

“Taking individual ownership is the first step and a very important one, and our aim next week is to encourage event professionals to think about the changes they can be making to take better care of themselves.”

The EventWell hub features expert blogs, a calendar of upcoming wellbeing events, a wellbeing practitioner directory, useful resources and websites, reading list, and dedicated support email for anyone looking for support and guidance.
