De Vere Wokefield Estate has announced the appointment of Peter Sangster as venue director.

Sangster will be responsible for overseeing the final stages of the hotel’s £20m refurbishment, as well as the day to day running of both the M&E and leisure business for the estate.

Sangster has more than 20 years experience, and brings with him an in-depth knowledge of the luxury hotel marketplace. He previously served as general manager at Hilton Aberdeen, Ardoe House Hotel & Spa, and Thainstone House Hotel & Spa.

Following a top-to-toe refurbishment this July, Sangster’s appointment at De Vere Wokefield Estate comes at a pivotal time for the luxury mansion house estate, which has seen upgrades to its dedicated conference facilities.

They can now accommodate up to 500 delegates, as well as a new restaurant, 1560 Restaurant and Bar, which is set to open in coming months. Many of its luxury bedrooms are also being refurbished.

Sangster commented: “My previous work with De Vere has been nothing but rewarding, so to continue my journey at De Vere Wokefield Estate is very exciting. The renovation has created an incredible establishment that I am proud to be a part of.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the big changes happening here and look forward to what the future holds for the property.”
