Entrepreneur and philanthropist Fay Sharpe has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of West London (UWL), recognising her outstanding achievements in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

As a founder shareholder of the UK’s largest MICE agency, Zibrant, and vice president of BCD Meetings and Events, Ms Sharpe is a strong advocate for women in business who promotes female entrepreneurship by being an outstanding example of female success, generously giving time to promote this important topic through mentoring.

The winner of multiple industry awards, Sharpe’s long record in business reflects the core values of UWL – the Career University. This is why UWL is delighted to bestow this Honorary Doctorate of Letters.

Collecting the Award at Wembley Stadium last week – when 1,850 UWL students collected degrees during two days of graduation ceremonies – Sharpe offered inspiring words for young people preparing to embark upon their own careers.

“My advice to young people is to be determined and to have goals and to reset those goals as you progress through life. I hope graduates take inspiration from what they have achieved and that they now build upon this success,” she said.

“It’s a great honour to be awarded this Honorary Doctorate and I want to thank the University for bestowing it upon me.”

UWL vice-chancellor professor Peter John praised graduates for investing in their futures by successfully completing their studies. “We believe nothing should get in the way of education and that students should be empowered to achieve excellence,” he said.
