The National Railway Museum in York has unveiled its new visual identity, part of a rebrand to bring it closer to the Science Museum Group family.

The events team has also been strengthened across the group’s Northern sites.

The past year has seen the rebranding of the Science Museum Group to incorporate all of the museums and provide visual cohesion. The approach includes treating the museums as one group, instigating shared programming and revamping the websites and logos.

A new dedicated website – hiretherailwaymuseum.com – includes content such as case studies, news, the latest package and menu information, a photo/video gallery and detailed information on each hireable space.

The group’s Northern team has added Verity Faircliffe as event sales executive, while Hannah Southwick has joined the operations team as an event operations executive. They join Helen Beresford-Boyse (newly appointed event sales manager), Charlotte Scott (event operations manager) and Sophie Thompson (event sales executive).

Additionally, Chris Hanley has joined the team as event manager North, and will oversee the event business at the group’s three northern sites – the National Railway Museum in York, the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford and the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.

Ben Lheureux, head of events and catering at Science Museum Group, said: “The unveiling of the National Railway Museum’s new visual identity and its vision for the future is an incredibly exciting moment for the entire venue team, as well as the wider group. With our new strengthened events team, and the ambitious masterplan to redevelop the museum, we are looking forward to entering the next stage of the museum’s development as a popular visitor attraction, and event venue.”

Meanwhile, The National Railway Museum in York has been announced as the first venue outside of Leeds to host the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards, taking place on 1 November 2018.

The Black Tie ceremony is set to attract 250 guests.
