The National Railway Museum in York has been announced as the first venue outside of Leeds to host the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards, taking place on 1 November 2018.

The black-tie ceremony will see more than 250 guests descend on the museum, as the awards honour the best in Yorkshire’s business world from household names to rising stars in the region. Over the last decade, the awards have attracted a host of high profile speakers, including David Cameron, Michael Portillo, and Alistair McGowan, with last year’s ceremony attracting a record level of entries.

Guests at the event will enjoy arrival drinks and canapés in the National Railway Museum’s Great Hall, amongst a stunning display of the finest locomotives, including Mallard – the world’s fastest steam locomotive. The celebrations will then move to Station Hall for dinner on the platform between the museum’s famous royal carriages, where the awards ceremony will take place.

Helen Beresford-Boyse, sales manager at the National Railway Museum, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards at the museum, and to be the first venue outside of Leeds to do so. Our unique collection of objects displaying some of the finest feats of engineering provides the ideal backdrop to celebrate the best in business that Yorkshire has to offer.”

Mark Casci, business editor of The Yorkshire Post, said: “We are delighted to take the awards out of Leeds for the first time and cannot wait for the big evening in the wonderful surroundings of the National Railway Museum in York. I am continually stating how Yorkshire is a world-class centre for business and nothing sums this up more than these awards.”
