More than 80 hoteliers and venue sales staff descended on the Swindon headquarters of booking agency Venues and Events International for its annual Supplier Day, 19 January.

Account handlers from brands such as Accor UK & Ireland, Hilton, IHG, BIC & Bournemouth Pavilion, Iconic Luxury Hotels, Hallmark Hotels, Jurys Inn, etc Venues, The ICC and The Principal Hotel Company, spent the day with Venues and Events International, learning about its businesses and understanding new opportunities for collaborative working.

Venues and Events founder and chief executive Anita Lowe said: “It’s a tradition of mine at this time of year to bring together the hotels and venues we work closely with, so that we can meet the new account handlers, introduce our strategic partner offers and understand the opportunities for the year ahead. This year, we discussed the impact of different generations and how technology is impacting our industry. We had some great discussions and agreed new ways to collaborate in order to  grow together and adapt to these evolving industry trends.”

Hallmark Hotels director of key accounts, Gemma Moody said: “It was a very useful day and a great opportunity to receive important business updates, but also to network with other hotels and venues. It’s rare for an agency to be so open and honest with its venue partners about its clients and its business and it’s something I know we all appreciate.”

Christopher Savage, account manager MICE Sales UK & Ireland for IHG said: “The transparency provided on the agents’ business objectives and accounts, was very useful. With this insight it enables us to work more collaboratively with Venues and Events International.”
