Since June 2017, Manchester Metropolitan University’s Conference and Events team’s efforts to collect £1 donations from conference day delegates for the Big Change Manchester homelessness project, over £4,500 has been raised for the cause.
The money has gone to support the Manchester Homelessness Partnership, a campaign drawing charities, grassroots groups, Manchester Council, businesses and residents together, and contributions to the Big Change Fund support those without somewhere to live by providing grants for education or training courses; furniture, furnishing or essential appliances; clothes for interviews, deposits and rents.
The Conference and Events team at Manchester Met is encouraging other Manchester venues and hotels to become involved and support the initiative. “Let’s make a difference together,” says the team.
