IACC has announced the winners of the European Copper Skillet, a qualifying round of the global culinary competition, which took place in London on 23 September.

Eight chefs from IACC’s member properties across Europe gathered at etc.venues’ County Hall, to take part in the prestigious competition, in which the chefs were presented with basic pantry items along with a mystery basket of proteins and other fresh, dairy and grocery produce. They were given 30 minutes to prepare, create, and present their dishes to local area judges.

The competition took place on the second day of the annual IACC-Europe Knowledge Festival 2017, which was attended by over 150 delegates from IACC certified conference and meeting venues from 12 counties throughout Europe, Americas and Australia, and who represent the top 1% of small to mid-size venues.

IACC’s CEO Mark Cooper commented: “The Knowledge Festival was hugely successful this year, we experienced a 50% increase in attendee numbers and over half of attendees participated for the first time. It was the perfect platform to stage the European round of the global Copper Skillet competition.

Cooper continued: “The standard was particularly high this year, and we wish Gregory and Christian all the best when competing at Global Copper Skillet Final at the IACC-Americas Connect event in Philadelphia next April where the 14th Global Copper Skillet Champion will be named.”

European winners were:

Christian Fratieanu – De Vere Oxford Thameswon the Junior category trophy (UK)

Gregory Harlgand from Chalet RoyAlp Hotel & Spa won the Senior category trophy (Switzerland)
