CCD jumps on back of Ireland’s academic ambassadors to help pull in parasitology congress

The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) is to host the 28th International Conference of the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology in 2021. The conference is expected to attract 1,000 international participants and generate in the region of €1.6m for the local Irish economy.

The CCD worked closely with conference ambassador professor Grace Mulcahy to initiate the bid for Dublin, which was put together by the local committee in partnership with Keynote PCO, and supported by national tourism board Fáilte Ireland, Meet in Ireland and Dublin Convention Bureau through the Conference Ambassador Programme.

Professor Mulcahy, WAAVP2021 conference chair and professor of veterinary microbiology and parasitology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin, commented: “Together with my colleagues who came together to make the bid to hold WAAVP2021 in Dublin, I am delighted to announce that our bid has been successful. This biennial Conference brings together the largest number of veterinary parasitologists globally, and has a strong tradition in showcasing both basic research and innovation in the discipline. We are determined that WAAVP Dublin 2021, building on previous conferences, will present a cutting-edge scientific programme spanning parasitology relating to companion animals, farm animals, one health, wildlife and ecosystems”.
