The Archives and Records Association (ARA) Conference is taking place 30 August to 1 September at the Deansgate Hilton in Manchester.

The line up of speakers features keynotes on data protection, trafficking, and accountability from opinion leaders, and includes police and crime commissioner for South Yorkshire Dr Alan Billings, UK information commissioner Elizabeth Denham, and Dr Neil Brodie, who is a senior research fellow on the Endangered Archaeology of the Middle East and North Africa.

The digital stream includes specialists in web-archiving, technological convergence, artificial intelligence, digital cataloguing, appraisal and selection, and the NDSA levels of digital preservation. The conference will highlight how the archives and records sector approaches new thinking in advocacy, enhancing service delivery, demonstrating value, audience engagement, collaboration, plus a public accountability and enquiries piece.

There will be a free workshop on Tuesday 29 August for ARA members: Bountiful Harvest: Curation, Collection and Use of Web Archives by Maria Praetzellis and Lori Donovan from The Internet Archive. Workshops run at 1.30pm and 4.30pm at the Deansgate Hilton Manchester, and there are limited spaces.
