Five hotels from the luxury Harbour Hotels Group have become members of the UK Meetings Industry Association (mia).

The Harbour Hotels in Guildford, Bristol, Brighton and Chichester have all achieved the mia’s AIM accreditation as part of their membership, while the new Southampton Harbour Hotel (CGI image) will be seeking accreditation on opening in October 2017.

AIM is a nationally recognised standard for venues and service providers in the meetings, conferences and events industry, with 50 criteria which must be met to achieve accreditation.

MD of Harbour Hotels, Mike Warren, said: “We are delighted to have secured national AIM accreditation for our city properties.”

He added: “Becoming part of this highly regarded association increases our awareness within the industry and allows us to further build our Harbour Hotels brand.”

Jane Longhurst, mia chief executive, said she was delighted to welcome Harbour Hotels to mia membership. “Securing AIM accreditation acts as a guarantee to buyers that when they choose one of the accredited Harbour Hotels they’re choosing a venue that cares about best practice and actively strives to meet and exceed their expectations. With so many dedicated conference centres and hotels, sporting and academic venues to choose from nationwide, it offers buyers a smart method to quality control their selections that could ultimately save them time, anxiety and reputational risk later down the line.”
