Donald Trump was named as the person most people would avoid being stuck in a business meeting with in a new survey by Lumi. Over a third (34%) of those polled named the US Republican candidate as their nightmare fellow attendee.

Trump was closely followed in the poll by outspoken columnist Katie Hopkins, who received 25% of the vote.

Piers Morgan also featured with 13% of the vote.

However, Dragons’ Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden could expect a warmer welcome around the board table with only 2% and 1% respectively saying they wouldn’t want to be stuck with them.

Peter Eyre, UK managing director, Lumi said: “It would actually be fascinating to see what happened if Trump, Hopkins and Morgan were all put in a meeting together – as long as you had little interest in the outcome. However, the interesting thing about all three is that they all have very strong views. It seems we prefer to be in meetings with people who are prepared to be flexible and collaborative.

“Jones and Meaden, on the other hand, are portrayed on TV as taking notice of what the hopeful Dragon’s Den candidates might have to say. Even though they can be abrasive in their opinions, they do listen carefully and consider the potential of each one.”

These results were part of a wider Lumi survey designed to pinpoint the frustrations of large business meetings.  It found that being able to voice your own thoughts openly was high up on the list of factors making a successful corporate meeting.
