Handmade Edinburgh: The Contemporary Crafts & Design Fair, launched for the first time this year, brought together the most exciting contemporary designers and makers from Scotland and beyond in a show built by Full Circle Events inside The Hub, the home of the Edinburgh International Festival.
Handmade Edinburgh took place in late October 2016 and is one of three events being delivered by Full Circle Events for Handmade in Britain. It follows Handmade in Kew which took place in early October inside a marquee at the world famous gardens and it precedes the 10th anniversary Handmade in Britain Christmas shopping event at the beautiful Chelsea Old Town Hall.
The Edinburgh show was well attended by 2,460 visitors seeking out the 75+ markers’ wares that ranged from jewellery to textiles and furniture to ceramics. The venue looked spectacular both inside and out, especially in the early evening, making the most of the architectural features of The Hub.
“It was a pleasure to work with Full Circle Events team for the Edinburgh show. The team has great time management, attention to detail and they provide good quality stand build. Every staff member is very friendly and helpful. We look forward to working with them for our other shows,” Piyush Suri, Handmade in Britain’s Founder & Creative Director
The unusual space provided a few challenges for the highly experienced Pete Webb of Full Circle Events who explained, “We work in some unusual locations and this was one of those occasions, there is a very distinct brand for Handmade in Britain and its exhibitors. The Hub is suited perfectly to the event, our challenge was to create an exhibition hall within the space available to a tight schedule. We began install at 7am and were complete by 2pm, ready for the Private View, and then out by 6pm on the Sunday. I’m delighted to say it went like clockwork and the show looked amazing in this very special venue when the doors opened.”
