Drayton Manor Park in Staffordshire has been awarded first place in the Large Company category of The Sun newspaper’s Best of British Awards 2016.

The awards, said the newspaper, recognise businesses that are doing the right thing for their employees.

The family owned theme park first opened its doors to the public in 1950 and, as well as white-knuckle rides, a

15-acre zoo, a 4D Cinema and a rope adventure challenge VertiGO, offers extensive facilities for corporate events. The venue has meeting room space for up to 500 delegates in its Tower Suite and outside event space for up to 2,000.

MD William Bryan said: “It’s fantastic news that we’ve come first in the large company category. As a family owned and run business it means such a lot for us to be recognised in this way.”

Jane Hamilton, The Sun, said: “Employees scored the company very highly for job satisfaction and recommending it as a place to work.”
