In or Out? Mia EU Referendum debate at The HAC

‘Are we better In or Out of Europe’ was the title of the mia’s EU Referendum debate, attended by over 60 event professionals at The Honourable Artillery Company in London. Two MPs (both members of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events), James Heappey and Chris Heaton-Harris, joined the panel, chaired by CN editor Paul Colston, who asked whether separation from the EU and the largest single market in the world would destroy the UK as a conference capital, or would it free us from bureaucratic shackles to embrace a wider world of trading and event opportunities? Representing the Vote Leave campaign were Heaton-Harris, David Franks and Luke Springthorpe, while On the Remain side there were contributions from Roddy Campbell, founder of Vrumi.com, industry consultant Richard John and Clive Watson, chairman of the City Pub Company.
